Indexer Guide

The indexer software helps you connect bitcoin wallets to your RoninDojo node.

A simple way to think of an indexer is that it sorts the entire bitcoin blockchain, and the index it creates will enable users to keep real-time track of bitcoin balances and transaction history.

An indexer is particularly useful if you have a hardware wallet such as Passport, Trezor, Cold Card, or Ledger. In short, it allows you to safely and privately interact with various bitcoin wallets.

Your RoninDojo supports two indexers. You can compare them below and pick the one that best fits your needs.

Both options connect to your bitcoin full node, index and query your node to verify transactions, and provide the framework to connect any number of wallets to your RoninDojo.

Fulcrum Server

Installed by default on devices with 8GB RAM or more. Fast indexer ideal for users with a large number of transactions.

Electrum Rust Server

Installed by default on devices with less than 8GB RAM. Good choice for older hardware and users that don’t have many transactions.

Fulcrum is installed by default on devices with 8GB RAM or more.

If you have Electrs installed and wish to switch to Fulcrum, then use the following steps to change your indexer. Be aware on devices with less than 8GB RAM the sync time for Fulcrum is long.

  1. Go to the Applications tab on the RoninUI dashboard, and click Switch on the Electrs server.

  2. Select Fulcrum and confirm your password.

  3. After installation, Fulcrum will need time to index the blockchain. Do not attempt to use the node until this process is complete.

We highly recommend pairing Sparrow Wallet with the indexer on your node. It’s a great desktop application for managing hardware wallets and so much more.
